Hi, and thanks for visiting Apparition Photography. Founded by Peter Ahern, Apparition Photography is a website devoted to showcasing fine art photography of landscapes and still life. We hope that you enjoy the site and images as much as we have enjoyed creating them.

About the Photographer:

Born in the north of Manchester, UK, in 1978, I am now based in Bolton with excellent access to some of the finest rural areas of the north of England, including the National Parks of the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales and my favourite, the Lake District.
From an early age I have been interested in shape, form and colour which manifested itself in the pursuit of various artistic activities in the past.
Meanwhile, I have pursued other areas of interest including the natural world, outdoor activities and technology and was educated to degree level in the field of Geology and Physical Geography before completing a PGCE in Secondary Geography Teaching.

Family and friends have often paid compliment to my photography over the years, even those casual snapshots taken on my first Kodak film camera when I was a teenager. When my wife-to-be Laura bought me a Panasonic Lumix hybrid camera in 2007, I took my photography to the next level.
My talent developed further through an intrigue for the various complexities that the camera had to offer and from here, my interest in art and technology combined and I spent the next four years learning the techniques of photography. Through an incessant reading of books, magazines and websites, participation in courses and of course through actual hands on practice, my natural talent grew and improved rapidly.

Building my portfolio, I found myself naturally drawn towards landscape and still life photography. The appeal of these genres was founded in my love for nature and the outdoors as well as the ability to control the scene to produce the image exactly as I wanted. By making full use of my extensive kit and manipulating the light and scene, I continually strive to produce images of the highest quality which bring pleasure to these who view them.

In the early part of 2011, I made the decision to share my enthusiasm for photography with the general public. I founded Apparition Photography and built this website to allow people to view and purchase my images. I am thoroughly enjoying this recent development and feel it has taken his photography onto an even more advanced level. I am fully committed to improving my photography and the business in order to continue sharing my work with others.
